In short: Scandora scans directly from network scanners that support eSCL / AirScan. Put your scanner and phone on the same Wi-Fi network, and Scandora finds the scanner automatically — no drivers, no desktop software.
What you need
- A scanner or multifunction printer that supports eSCL / AirScan (sometimes listed under "AirPrint scanning" or "Apple AirPrint").
- The scanner and your phone on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Network scanning enabled on the device (see your scanner's web interface or panel).
Connect in Scandora
- Make sure your scanner is powered on and on the same network as your phone.
- In Scandora, start a scan and choose the network scanner option.
- Scandora searches the network automatically and lists the scanners it finds. Tap yours to connect. Its status (idle, busy, paper jam, feeder empty) is shown live.
Scan settings
Before scanning you can choose:
- Source: the automatic document feeder (ADF) for multi-page stacks, or the flatbed glass for single sheets. The feeder is the default so multi-page stacks scan in one pass.
- Duplex: scan both sides in one pass if your scanner's feeder supports it.
- Colour and resolution (DPI).
Pages from the feeder are captured in sequence and assembled into a single document you can then process and export.
Supported scanners
Any eSCL/AirScan-compatible network scanner should work. Scandora ships tuned connection settings for common manufacturers, including Brother, HP, Canon, Epson, Xerox, Ricoh, Kyocera, Lexmark, Samsung, Konica Minolta, Sharp, Toshiba, OKI and Pantum, with a generic fallback for others.
Brother note: only newer Brother models support eSCL scanning — for example the MFC-L3xxx, MFC-J4xxx and ADS-4xxx series. Older models (such as the MFC-9xxx series) usually do not support eSCL scanning even if they support AirPrint printing. Whether a given model works depends on its firmware and the manufacturer's eSCL support, not on Scandora.
Troubleshooting
- Scanner not found: confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi (not a guest network), and that "AirPrint" / eSCL scanning is enabled on the scanner. Some networks block the discovery traffic between devices — try again on a simpler network.
- Connection drops: if the scanner reboots it may come back on a different IP address; run the search again.
- No feeder pages: make sure paper is loaded correctly in the ADF.
You can also scan with your phone camera at any time — no scanner required.
